Low Light Home and Street Defense

Low Light Home and Street Defense

$0.00

This class will teach the student to effectively utilize a handgun with a flashlight or weapon mounted light. You will learn how to draw and fire with a flashlight, engage multiple targets with a flashlight, engage targets at close range with a flashlight, move and search with your handgun/light, and discuss dim light and indoor/outdoor considerations.

You will need the following equipment for the class:

  1. One-hundred and fifty (150) rounds of ammunition.
  2. Any medium/large handgun will work, including revolvers. The gun should be a major caliber weapon (9mm, .40, .357 Sig., .38/.357 magnum, .45, etc)
  3. Three (3) magazines or three (3) revolver speed loaders.
  4. A sturdy strong side holster (straight drop is best, with no forward or rearward cant)
  5. A thick belt (double thickness is best, 1 1/4″ to 1 1/2″ wide) to secure the holster.
  6. A magazine carrier.
  7. A flashlight with a rear mounted pressure switch and/or a rail mounted flashlight, In addition, your weapon should have night sights.
  8. An open front jacket/vest or pullover sweatshirt/t-shirt with which you would normally conceal the weapon.
  9. The power point handout from the CCW class.
  10. Sturdy, comfortable shoes appropriate for moving and standing for long periods.
  11. Eye and ear protection (Calibers has free loaner equipment).
  12. A sharpie/permanent marker.

Calibers has a wide selection of equipment to suit your needs. Please arrange to have all of your gear 1 week before the day of the class.

There is a limited capacity to loan holsters and magazine carriers for 1911 style and Glock handguns. The Instructor will need advance notice if you cannot obtain an adequate holster and want to use what he has. The most common difficulty in learning how to draw the weapon efficiently and smoothly is inappropriate or inadequate belt equipment: poor quality holsters, flimsy/thin belts, flimsy pants with inadequate belt loops, etc. This is particularly true in drawing to flashlight ready positions.

While brief breaks will be given, there are no lunch/dinner breaks. If you have special needs or dietary restrictions please plan accordingly.

Lastly, this class is restricted to twelve (12) persons, and will fill quickly, so please respond ASAP. Please be courteous to Calibers and others by not cancelling at the last minute or failing to show up. It prevents other interested persons from attending.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Jordan Nighbert at 505-797-9715 or jordan@calibersnm.com
